Manifesto for Entrepreneur that may interest you

Dear friends

I just revisit to ChangeThis.com and find that the Seth Godin's manifesto "The Bootstrapper" is available again for free download, what a good news!

This summary was available for free some 2 years ago and I found it pretty insightful for someone who wants to be an entrepreneur. As I know some of you are in the stage of preparing a startup, or in the blooming stage of a startup to next level of success so I believe this should be a good read for you.

Besides this, I also dig out Guy Kawasaki's "The Art of the Start", the startup manifesto of his book with the same title. This summary is very interesting as it even teaches people how to pick a company name.

For some of you don't have any initiative of starting a company, you may read through the hundreds startup ideas of this website and find couple of inspiring ideas for your start,

Hope this sharing would make your startup dream sweeter.

8th Manage - New model to manage intellectual works for sizable team

Dear friends,

Software management is one of the philosophical problem I used to think about quite intensively, especially when I was teaching some courses of software engineering in HKBU and worked on some medium size projects in the early stage of my career.

In national day holidays, I read a book called "8th manage", and I am impressed by its proposal on how to handle the human side of an intellectual project. Unlike factory project which is mostly driven by process, the success of software or intellectual project will be largely determined by human factors. The proposed solution of using Commitment Management, Personal Management and Intellectual Exchange sound very interesting. When you read the book you could feel its pragmatic style distinctively when compared to CMM, XP or Agile development models.

Also, the author started a company to market the project tools for this concept. If you like you could visit their website. http://8manage.cn and some free articles on this forum http://home.donews.com/donews/author/1/162465/

Unfortunitely, I have no chance to try this software management method on my existing projects but would be interesting to hear from you if you have any experience on this. Or if you have a new project and want to deploy it using this method, I am happy to hear from you how practical it is. Sometimes, theory is theory, this is especially true for software project managment.

Just my sharing and enjoy your weekend,
